Crystal Island
Anita Jewel Lemon
Futurist Tale Serves as Commentary for Present Day World Affairs
Melbourne, Fl. - Anita Jewel Lemon's novel, Crystal Island (now available through Authorhouse), is set
in the future after war and disease ravaged the Earth. Now, Mother Nature is taking her revenge on
Earth's inhabitants. With entire continents gone and other's destroyed, the few remaining humans
must unite and devise a plan to live in harmony with one another and Mother Nature. While Lemon's
book is set in the future, it is a commentary on the present state of world affairs, war, racism and
careless destruction of our natural resources.
Born in the middle of the 20th Century, Ada and Eli have survived the wars and diseases of the early
21st Century only to face the inescapable assault of meteors that now bombard Earth. Having survived
for three years in their private sanctuary, supplies are depleted and they must leave their beloved
home in search of their destiny. Their friends, the dolphins, lead them to a hidden tropical island in the
Bermuda Triangle where they are welcomed by the Island's inhabitants and encouraged to participate
in introducing the next advancement for the human race in this new world called Star Earth.
"Our Island survived only because we are in the Bermuda Triangle. The same magnetic force that has
baffled sailors and pilots for centuries saved us by deflecting the meteors away from us," writes
Lemon. The children of this Island are born with abilities that far surpass the psychic powers of the
20th century. Those that have survived must make ready for the new power source that will be made
available only if humans have matured as a species beyond their inhumanity and destructive ways.
"This female is born with a gift that stays with her throughout her life. With this gift she is able to
communicate with the animals and our ancestors. We don't speak like this; it's more like I can see what
they see and feel their emotions.," writes Lemon. "Their eyes are invaluable for bringing us visions of
approaching danger."
Lemon's writing is cautiously optimistic, and she carefully illustrates the results of disregarding people
and the environment. She lives with her husband Jim on Florida's Space Coast. She is a mother and
grandmother.
